At our school, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, and understood.

What is Thrive?

Thrive is a nurturing approach that helps us support each child’s emotional and social wellbeing, alongside their learning. Through positive relationships, fun activities, and personalised support, Thrive helps children develop confidence, resilience, emotional understanding, and the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond. By recognising and responding to individual needs, we help every child feel valued, supported, and ready to succeed.

Whole School Thrive Approach

All staff in our school receive Thrive training, helping us create a consistent, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, supported, and understood. By using Thrive principles throughout the school day, we build positive relationships, support emotional wellbeing, and help children develop the confidence and resilience they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

How We Implement Thrive Across Our School

Thrive is embedded throughout our school and is part of our everyday practice. All staff use Thrive principles to build positive relationships, support emotional wellbeing, and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can flourish. Regular whole-class activities, check-ins, and targeted Thrive sessions help us respond to pupils' individual needs, while ongoing assessments enable us to monitor progress and provide the right support at the right time. By working together as a whole school community, we ensure that every child feels valued, understood, and ready to learn.

Why Might a Child Attend Thrive?

Every child sometimes needs a little extra support. Thrive sessions may be offered to help children build confidence, manage emotions, develop friendships, cope with change, or improve their wellbeing. Children are identified through staff observations, discussions with parents, and Thrive assessments. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and may take place one-to-one or in small groups. Progress is regularly reviewed through observations, assessments, and feedback to ensure the support continues to meet each child's needs and celebrates the progress they make along the way.

 Thrive Developmental Strands:

At its core, Thrive identifies six key developmental strands that children progress through:

1. Being – Feeling safe, secure, and settled.

2. Doing – Exploring and developing confidence.

3. Thinking – Problem-solving and understanding consequences.

4. Power and Identity – Developing a sense of self and individuality.

5. Skills and Structure – Learning self-discipline and cooperation.

6. Interdependence – Forming and maintaining healthy relationships.

Using assessments, Thrive practitioners, and school staff, support is tailored to meet each child’s individual needs, helping them overcome emotional barriers to learning and development.
