Holly Grove in the Community
Community cohesion is at the heart of our school culture and ethos. We are incredibly fortunate to offer support and work alongside a wide range of outstanding organisations, services, and individuals within our local community. Their contributions help us provide meaningful experiences and rich opportunities for our children. Throughout the school year, we create opportunities for parents, carers, local groups, and partner organisations to engage with us and take part in school life.
Our community-focused initiatives include:
- Feel Good Friday support groups, run by parents, offering a welcoming space for connection and wellbeing.
- Chill and Chat sessions, featuring guest speakers who share valuable insights and guidance.
- Riding the Rapids courses for parents and carers, supporting families in understanding and navigating children’s emotional and behavioural needs.
We also welcome external services into school to support both pupils and families. Organisations such as Lancashire Women and the East Lancashire Bladder and Bowel Service provide specialist training, advice and SEND support.
Building strong links within the community is especially important for our children’s social development. We have a strong partnership with Sandersons Dance and Fitness Centre, providing training around SEND and creating opportunities for children in our community to experience a love of dance. We also have excellent connections with local primary schools, offering a wide range of outreach and in‑reach support for other professionals. In addition, we maintain regular visits to our local care home, helping pupils build new connections while spreading kindness and care. We are very proud of our partnerships with the Burnley Sports Partnership and Burnley Leisure, which provide fantastic opportunities for physical activity and overall wellbeing.
