Here's a glimpse into what our music curriculum entails:

Live Music:

Experience the magic of live music through performances by professional musicians, child ensembles, and visiting artists. Our children have the chance to witness the power of music first-hand, igniting their passion for performance and appreciation for different musical genres.

Learning to Play Instruments:

From the electronic keyboard to the rhythmic energy of the drums, our music curriculum offers children the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments. Every child will build upon their skills year upon year to access a wide range of instruments over their time at Holly Grove.

Music Technology:

Explore the exciting world of music technology and production through hands-on projects and interactive workshops. Children will learn to compose, arrange, and produce music using cutting-edge software and equipment using equipment from our local Music Hub.

Built on Prior Skills and Knowledge:

Our music curriculum is designed to build upon children’s prior skills and knowledge, providing a seamless progression from one level to the next. Whether they're continuing their musical journey or discovering a new passion, our curriculum offers a supportive and enriching environment for growth and development.

Singing:

At Holly Grove, we believe in the power of song to uplift spirits and bring people together. Whether it's during music class, assemblies, or special events, children and staff are encouraged to let their voices soar and share their love of singing with others.

Listening and Appraising:

Children will listen to a wide range of different musical pieces which they will appraise alongside their peers. Engaging children in active listening will develop critical thinking skills and support them in identifying musical elements they have learnt.
