Class Courtney – Spring Term 1
Hello and a very warm welcome back to all children, parents and staff! We hope you enjoyed the winter festivities and are feeling refreshed and ready for 2026.
In Class Courtney, our topic this term is “Weather Around the World,” linked to our Geography learning. The children will explore the wide variety of weather found across the world’s continents, with a particular focus on extreme weather conditions such as tornadoes and tsunamis.
This learning links perfectly with our Food Technology topic, “Desserts Around the World.” The children will discover sweet treats from different countries before designing and creating their very own delicious desserts.
In PE, we will begin our journey to becoming Team GB’s next Olympic gymnasts! The children will learn a range of balances, rolls and jumps, before combining these skills to create a smooth and fluent gymnastic sequence.
Our Science focus this term is “States of Matter.” The children will learn all about solids, liquids and gases, exploring their properties and particles before carrying out some exciting, hands-on experiments.
In English, our topic is “Myths and Legends.” The children will explore famous tales such as Thor: The God of Thunder and Medusa, using them as inspiration for their own writing. In Maths, the children will develop their calculation skills through addition and subtraction, before moving on to volume and capacity, fractions, and statistics.
