Summer Term 1
A very warm welcome back to all children, parents, and staff! We hope you had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the improving weather.
This term in Courtney’s Class, our topic is ‘Life on the Ocean Waves’, which will guide much of our learning across the curriculum.
In Geography, the children will be exploring Great Britain in depth. They will learn about the different countries, flags, capital cities, and some of the famous landmarks that make Britain unique.
In PE, our focus will be on invasion games, including sports such as football, hockey, netball, basketball, and dodgeball. The children will develop key skills such as throwing, catching, passing, shooting, and evasion, while also learning about teamwork and strategy.
In Science, we will be studying ‘Living Things and their Habitats’. The children will learn about a variety of plants and animals, how they are classified, what they need to survive, and the environments they live in. We will also explore how humans can impact these environments, both positively and negatively.
In English, our focus will be on stories with historical settings, with a particular emphasis on Captain Sparkle Beard. The children will be introduced to adding description to their writing, using Colourful Semantics to support sentence structure and enrich their storytelling. They will explore how descriptive language brings stories to life before creating their own short pieces of writing.
In Religious Education, the children will learn about the Buddha, his teachings, and the impact he has had on the world.
We look forward to an exciting and busy term ahead—please check back soon to see what we have been learning!
