Libby's Class 2026 - 2027
Hello and Welcome to Libby’s class!
We have lots of fun lessons planned that will provide our children with opportunities to explore, interact, achieve and have fun! For the first two weeks, our focus will be on getting to know each child individually, building relationships and establishing a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment. We will spend time exploring the children’s interests, communication styles, sensory preferences and individual needs, helping to develop trust, confidence and positive connections with both staff and peers.
In English this term we are reading the book “Rapunzel, Rapunzel Wash Your Hair!” which is a traditional tale with a twist. As we read about the journey Rapunzel goes on we will be exploring our senses through a range of engaging and active activities.
In Maths we are keeping very busy! Exploring number, length and weight and 2D shapes through number songs, TEACCH activities, exploration indoors and outdoors and attention autism sessions.
In Science we will be completing sensory activities to explore the life cycles of amphibians, mammals, insects, birds and plants. We will hopefully get chance during our enrichment time to go out into our community to see what animals we can find!
Links to PSHE will be made throughout the term as pupils explore their own likes, dislikes and preferences, develop their communication and social interaction skills, and be supported with managing their emotions. Activities will encourage turn-taking, making choices, building positive relationships and developing self-awareness in a safe and supportive environment.
We are looking forward to creating lots of memorable moments together J
