Helping Hand Grant
The Georgia Fourie Helping Hand is part of the Georgia Fourie Butterfly Fund. It exists to support children with special needs at Holly Grove and their families.
How It Works
Families can now apply any time during the year (not just twice a year as before).
Applications are reviewed by the Helping Hand Panel, based on the information you give in your form.
Each grant can be up to £100, but the final amount is decided by the panel or trustees.
Families can receive up to 2 successful grants during their child’s time at Holly Grove. (Unsuccessful applicants can apply again.)
What We Fund
Grants can be used for items or activities that support your child’s:
Personal care & independence (feeding, washing, toileting)
Access to social activities (like swimming lessons)
Education (books, games, resources)
Communication (aids or tools to help your child express themselves)
Specialist resources (not funded by the NHS)
Physical environment (help with mobility and safety)
Examples include:
Swim nappies
Sensory items (ear defenders, weighted jackets, bubble tubes, sensory dens)
Special cutlery for feeding
Phonics or learning games
School uniform
Important Notes
If an item costs more than £100, parents/carers can pay the extra themselves.
The charity will buy the item/service directly. If that’s not possible, a cheque will be made payable to the supplier.
If the panel finds a cheaper, similar item/service, you’ll be offered that option.
School uniform is the only type of clothing funded.
Holidays are not funded, but we can provide details of other charities that may help.
What We Don’t Fund
We cannot fund things like:
Home alterations or building works
Medical treatments, therapies, or equipment
Household bills, debts, or spending money
Childcare
iPads/tablets
Holidays
Clothes (other than school uniform)
Reimbursement for items already bought
Extra Information
Decisions are based on the child’s Education Health Care Plan and the Lancashire Continuum of Need.
Priority goes to families who meet the most criteria.
If your application is not successful, you can ask for feedback.
Once items are given, the charity is not responsible for repairs, replacements, or safety. You’ll be asked to sign a disclaimer.
