Peaky Blinders Charity Night

We are pleased to say we have raised an amazing £1860 at our Peaky Blinders Casino night! This will enable us to provide respite breaks for our pupils. A huge thank you to all our supporters. Please take a look at the photos posted below of the event. We are already planning our 10th Anniversary extravaganza and look forward to seeing you all in October 2019!

Rosie’s Skydive

A massive well done to one of Holly Grove’s Teaching Assistants, Rosie Garnett, for facing her fears and tandem skydiving from 15,000ft to raise money for our charity. Rosie’s skydive has raised £781.25 with more donations still coming in. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored and donated online and a big thanks to Rosie!

Curry Night

This year’s curry night was held at USHA in Burnley. 49 people attended and the menu consisted of poppadum’s, mixed starter, followed by a choice of curries and rice. We also had a chocolate and bottle tombola on the night. With tickets and tombola sales we raised £480.90. That is £105 more than last year. Here’s to next year’s being even bigger. USHA have also agreed to have one of our charity tubs on the bar as a permanent fixture which hopefully will bring in some more loose change throughout the year.

£2000 TK Maxx Grant

We have been awarded a £2000 grant from TK Maxx to spend on vital ICT equipment for our sensory learners. A huge thank you to John who came in to assembly on Friday and presented us with a cheque. Pictured is Karen, Holly Grove Headteacher, John from TK Maxx and Mel, Georgia’s Mum who helped us to secure this grant. We are extremely grateful!

And to Nick, I don’t think people will ever look at you the same again, thank you for being an excellent host and compare for the evening and entertaining us until the very end. A fantastic night thank you so so much. Watch this space for our next fundraising event…

Georgia’s 18th Birthday Balloon Release

Today was an emotional day when the pupils at Holly Grove School joined with Georgia’s family to release 100 pink and white balloons with butterflies attached. This was to celebrate Georgia Fourie’s 18th birthday. She may have only been with us until she was 9 but her memory and outlook on life lives on through the charity. Our little charity started in 2009 with just a small group of people fundraising unofficially to a fully registered charity which is making a real difference to the lives of children and their families. I am so proud and honoured to be chair of this charity and humbled to be working in Georgias name with the rest of the trustees. Happy 18th birthday Georgia xxxxx – Eve Taylor – Chairperson

7 Seater Car

In July we finally purchased the 7 seater car we had been saving for, for the past two years. The car is a vital asset for us as we can use it to transport children and their families to and from hospital appointments, transport our pupils to sporting events taking place at different schools and take children on trips to the local community. The car has been sign written with our Charity name and logo, with huge thanks to Pam Binder for her contribution.

A huge thank you to the Cycle Factory in Todmorden for their generous donation of £250 (plus gift aid) towards petrol for the year!
